Austin Water receives PLATINUM Certification for Excellence in Water Conservation Program Operation and Management
(Austin)— Austin Water has received PLATINUM Certification from The Alliance for Water Efficiency for excellence in water conservation program operation and management. The utility became the fifth agency in the nation to complete the rigorous certification process and only the third to achieve PLATINUM Certification. Austin Water is also the largest participating agency to date.
The grade received certifies 100% compliance with all recommended best practices for an effective conservation program as outlined in the American Water Works Association’s G480 standard.
“Austin Water is proud to have achieved this certification,” said Daryl Slusher, Assistant Director of Austin Water – Environmental Affairs and Conservation. “It is a tribute to our staff and the citizens of Austin who responded to our calls for conservation. Water conservation will remain particularly critical as we face the challenges of climate change.”
The G480 standard is part of the American Water Works Association’s G-series of voluntary management standards. It shows outcome-oriented practices and policies that go above and beyond established regulations and sets a benchmark for excellence.
Member agencies voluntarily submit their work to The Alliance for Water Efficiency for review and consideration. The Alliance is a stakeholder-based nonprofit organization and an independent industry advocate dedicated to the efficient and sustainable use of water.
