Event organizers who have not yet submitted applications are encouraged to apply.
The Austin Center for Events (ACE) has announced it is nearing capacity for evaluating new applications for special events taking place during the 2018 spring festival season.
Event organizers who have not yet submitted applications for consideration are encouraged to do so as soon as possible. Those applications which require minimal examination and whose overall impact on resources would be small may still receive a review.
ACE has so far received 156 applications for Temporary Use Permits, Temporary Event Sound Permits and Temporary Change of Use Permits and Occupant Loads. Planning meetings with event organizers are underway to finalize those proposed events.
Based on current application numbers, ACE staff anticipates it will have to stop evaluating new spring festival event applications within the next week.
“We’re working hard to approve as many permits for spring festival season as we can and we’re positive we can do this in a way that safeguards public safety,” said Austin Center for Events Program Manager Bill Manno. “There will always come a point where we reach the limit for the number of events the city has capacity to resource and manage effectively during this time period and it looks like we’ll be hitting that limit in the next few days.”
Outdoor Music Venues with valid permits may apply for extended hours permits up to 21 days in advance of scheduled events.
