Lone Star Limericks Writing Competition- Annually in July
The O. Henry Museum at City of Austin will present Lone Star Limericks: a public, online writing competition for all ages. Submissions for Lone Star Limericks will be accepted beginning July 1, 2023. Two categories will be available: Youth (ages 12 & under) and General (ages 13 & up). Submissions can be formatted as a video, image, or text. Submissions will close at 11:59pm on July 22, 2023. From July 23-July 31, the public will be able to view a gallery of all submissions and vote for their favorite limericks. Winners will be announced on August 1. Winners (in each category, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, as well as two honorable mentions) will receive a Texas-themed prize package.

Fans of O. Henry who want to take their admiration to another level are welcome to attend these free readings and discussions of the author’s short stories, held at the museum, at 1p.m., unless otherwise noted.
